Kadjoé Design is a fashion label created by Stephanie Aevouelie in the winter of 2016. The young designer was born in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), West Africa. Her mother is French-German-Ivorian and her father is from Côte d’Ivoire. Stephanie grew up in Côte d’Ivoire with 3 siblings and moved to France after high school to get her masters in Economics and Finance.

To get more fluent in the English language and to get her MBA in accounting, she then decided to move to the United States in 2009. Since then she has worked and lived in different places in the US and started working on her fashion label.

Stephanie always had a passion for fashion and designing her own clothing. Already as a young girl she was obsessed with everything related to fashion – collecting fashion magazines, draw updated versions of fancy clothes and designing big dresses with long trains made of African prints, cotton sheets, towels and mosquito nets.
Stephanie is in love with her African culture and thinks that the African print doesn’t have the popularity that it deserves. She wants her brand to be instrumental in putting "African print on the map" by increasing consumer access and interest in this unique fabric. It would be exciting to her to see African print in everyday functional clothing and not just as a novelty. In using fashion as a tool for empowerment, Stephanie aims to give women-especially women of color- a sense of inclusiveness and confidence with their style.

Her inspiration she mainly finds in everyday life – a combination of nature and street life. Stephanie’s diverse cultural background – from her parents to living on different continents throughout her life – makes her sense of fashion so versatile and surprising.

Kadjoé Design is based in Philadelphia where Stephanie lives. She designs all her pieces herself and has them produced in Côte d’Ivoire. The African based production is important to her to create jobs in her country where the poverty rate is high.

Kadjoé means beautiful in Stephanie’s paternal dialect – it is the perfect match for her designs: Beautiful, feminine and elegant. Made for women who want to stand out and look unique and sophisticated.
